-posed repeal of Ordinance No. 617.
After arguments pro and con by the
representatives of the peitioners Councilman W.V. Rinehart
submits the following Resolution;
Resolved that it is the sense of this Council that the petition
of Bailey Gatzert et al be rejected and that the sentiments
of the several remonstrances are in accord with our sentiments
and that we adhere finaly to our former expressed purpose
to enforce the so called Sunday Law.
Thereupon after due consideration said Resolution is adopted
upon the following vote, Towit: In favor of adopting said Resolution
Frye, Latimer, Northrup, Rinehart, Snyder, & Sox Against the
adoption of said Resolution Clancy, Harrington & Yesler.
The motion made to require bonds for costs from the
prosecuting Witness in all prosecutions of the Sunday law Ordi-
-nance is [lost?]
A petition is presented by E.G. Johnson et al for the passage of an
Ordinance, annexed to regulate the sale of Intoxicating liquors
ordered laid on the table

The Police Com tee make a report recommending that officer
Webster be retained on the Day force and that H.A. Bigelow
be placed on night force to fill the vacancy caused by the
dismissal of Thos Ross.
Ordered by the Council that Officer James Welch be trans-
-ferred to the Washington Street beat in place of Thos Ross
& that Officer Webster stand suspended until he make a
satisfactory explanation to the Council.
