JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE

"appropriating money to pay audited bills" Adopted upon
the following vote, Towit: In favor of adoption Frye, Latimer,
Northrup, Rinehart, Snyder, Sox & Yesler, against adoption [no?]
Ordered that the Attorney be & is hereby instructed to
defer the collection of the 10% penalty on all deliquent
taxes until March 1, 1885
Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned until Friday
Dec. 26, 1884 at 7 O'Clock P.M.

Be it remembered that on this the 26th day of December 1884, the
Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in it's Council Chamber
pursuant to the call of His Honor the Mayor
The following Officers are present Towit: His Honor the Mayor John
Leary and Councilmen Chas F. Clancy, Geo. F. Frye, W.A. Harrington,
B.L. Northrup, Alfred Snyder, E.F. Sox, H.L. Yesler, W.G. Latimer, and
W.V. Rine hart
Thereupon the following proceedings are had:
A petition is rec'd from Wm Campbell et al for the appointment of
Danl McKeon as Chief of the Fire Department. Referred to Fire Com tee
with instructions to report forth with.
Ordered that Assistant Chief of the Fire Department Danl McKeon
be & is hereby temporarily appointed to perform the duties of Chief of the
Fire Department until the Board of Fire Delegates be & is hereby
requested to call a meeting of the Board of Fire Delegates for the pur-
-pose of appointing a Chief of the Fire Department in place of G. Kellogg
resigned

Ordinances
The Atty submits an Ordinance entitiled "To provide for the remission of the
"Ten per cent penalty upon all general and special taxes for the year 1884 which
"shall be paid prior to the First day of March 1885." After due Consideration said
Ordinance is adopted upon the following vote, Towit: in favor of adoption Clancy
