The Enterprise Club met at Rock Spring on the evermemorable, cold Saturday Jan 4th1879, & not withstanding the intense cold & the distance to be travelled, six of our members gathered around the comfortable coal stove & organized at 6 PM with Wm W Moore as Forman & Benj H Miller acting for our absent Secretary.

The members present were Wm S Brooke, Granville Farquhar, E P Thomas, Wm W Moore, B H Miller & our host, & as guests we had Chas F Kirk & Chas Farquhar,

The minutes of last mtg were read but those of our meeting here one year ago were missing. The election of a Secretary for the ensuing year, being next in order, Chas H Brooke, was, by acclamation chosen to fill that position.

After supper the following questions were asked. 1st Quest. Granville Farquhar, has some wood & rails to cut in clearing a piece of land, the wood rather scrubby & a good many poles among the rails; what price per Cord for the wood & per 1000 for rails ? Ans 60 cts for each.

2ndQuestion. Charles Farquhar has a number of calves; shall he let them run to straw rick & feed a little meal or buy hay ? All advise buying hay.

3rd Quest. How shall Roger Farquhar get clover seed threshed ? We left him to find out.

4th Quest. Our host wants to know whether to feed or haul small Peerless potatoes .? Advised to keep for seed, as they will likely be scarce.

5th Quest. Do your cows eat clover hay with appetite ? My great complaint that they did not.

6th Quest. Would you throw water over your ice, such weather as yesterday & today ? A general discussion of the subject followed which was of

The Enterprise Club met at " White Hall" the reindence of Samuel Hopkins Feb. 1st 1879. 7 members were in attendance and 9 of our host's friends were having been invited to meet us, made a nice sized meeting.

Asa M. Stabler was chosen forman, as a matter of course, and the Sec. being absent on account of on accident, Arthur Stabler was appointed for the meeting.

After waiting some time for the members who did not arrive we started out for a walk.

We first noticed the new style of wire fence, which with its barbs

That tone some of our over coats as we crawled through it will caused us to remember it as distincly as do the animals who have then unrapping scratched it him fine trees were sunning in a large field eating their meal out of boxes in the ferree comers a scatering a liberal portion from the crows as we node away that noght the wind blowing cold from the notd west we noticed the cattle on the soadride were tho! trees trunk afforded some shelters and we thought of what an old famer once told us viz the greatest pleasure he had to faming was to have plenty of provender for his stock he make them respectly comfortable

A large flock of nice sheep were much admired as were the five homes spoken of at previous meetings. At the farm we also noticed a new hay carriage of the H.H Stabler Pattern, and when we reached the new and [] hoghouse, your sec, had to stop and make notes, for fear "[] Lost"[] would not have credit done him. Quite a drove of blooded colts, were found[] [] around [and about] the graveyard which being enclosed by a high brick wall protected them slightly from the chilling blasts of the Norwester. Upon our return to the house the following questions were asked and answered

Slowed we hay more for elover need, trained, here on clean farms that for what we lay in the city all would prefer it. Showed [luckier?] around [cherenned?] stamps be thinned out Souvineer admired to thin them a little 3rd would the club advice hauling, potatoes away for now The few who impressed are thinner raid let them to. 4th will you watch and to suffer Unanimously agreed to 5th would you sell hay weighing 125 lbs or counting to feed them. Majority would feed until may or june how would that we have managed on our own to make the wood and of I this year thorne
