of the garden from the second-story window
were delighted with its picturesqueness, &
after a closer view we were pleased with
everything. The vegetable garden was
surely in beautiful order, & the flagstones
from the porch through the yard
& along the flower beds weree a joy to our

As 'twas feeding time, we had the
benefit of seing elegant big healthy
chickens & a pen of the very cutest
little yellow ducks.

invited, proved the fact that our
hostess & her daughter were not only
authority in the out-of-doors beauty,
but were queens in the interior of
the home as well.
Let me borrow a line from Pope -
"She moves a goddess, & she looks a
queen".
