This water is said to have flowed
here first in T'ang dynasty and
revived in time of Ch'ien Lung.

Place where boy's school now stands
is where water entered city (seen
by gravel) left in diagonal corner
of city.

Silk cloth hanging in Temple at Shih
T'a (5 li W of city) dated 44th
year of Ch'ien Lung - crisp and
pliable.

Age of bells at church & boy's schools.

Can see place at Yü Tao he where
water was drained off to city.

which says 欽節孝.

Street in East suburb called Sha
Chu朱 Hang because when Manchus
took control many people by name
of Chu (the Ming name) were killed
to kill off all claimants to throne.

On way to Hun Nan She is bridge
whose side stones are all dated
Ming dynasty grave stones which when
Ming graves were leveled (by order of
Manchus) these were used on bridge - all
have different date.
