Albert Edelfelt

Albert Gustaf Aristides Edelfelt (1854-1905) was a Finnish painter of Realist paintings whose nature paintings were often painted while outdoors. He also produced portraits of well-known people. The article in "The Studio" magazine, Vol. 23, which is quoted in a correspondence to Jane Stanford, misspells his name as Edenfelt and lists him as from Sweden. Though born to Swedish-speaking parents, he was born in the Grand Duchy of Finland, at that time under Russian control, and lived in Finland but spent parts of his life in Antwerp, Paris and St. Petersburg. See page 174 of Google Books link.
