get many little things
for Lydia's Christmas
Tree which we had
in the middle of our
hotel parlor here.

Some of our friends
came in to see it but
more especially I think
to see Lydia's beaming
face at the delight
at so many pretty
things. We had planned
to spend our New Years
Day at Lakewood with
several of our friends
but somehow it seemed
hard to leave New York
just now so we stayed

on here. For the last
week we have had
quite cold weather &
snow so that yesterday
we took our first
sleigh ride this season
which I enjoyed
immensely & did not
feel cold at all.
Lydia looked like a
little polar bear she
was so enveloped in
furs. We still think
of taking our trip
through Canada on
our way home &
would rather go that
way than by way of
Florida. I hope by this
time you feel quite
like yourself again &
