Dear Brother

This letter will authorize
you to withdraw from the
Union Trust Co, "Special Account",
the sum of $167,250 dollars.

You will kindly open and
deposit this amount in a new acc-
ount in a new account in the
Union Trust Co, to be called "Leland
Stanford Jr. University, Salary Account,
Charles G. Lathrop, Treasurer.
This amount is to be disbursed to the
Professors and Instructors for mon-
thly saleries [sic] for the unexpired
term of the nine (9) months ending
July 31st 1902. Dr Jordan has
paid the professors their saleries [sic]
