Dr Ray Lyman Wilbur

Stanford Univ Cal.

Dear Friend.

My invitation to dine with Mrs Stanford in New York City Jan 28th 1900 is removed from my scrap book and enclosed herewith at your request.

Mr Timothy Hopkins was Toast Master at Mrs Stanford's dinner and there was present some one to respond for each Class, each foot ball and track teams, debating clubs and others at Stanford since the beginning.

The boys had a wonderful time singing, (singing Stanford songs) with the orchestra and all surprised to find so many Classmates in the East.

At the close of the evening Mr Hopkins announced Mrs Stanford would say a few words: She stood up but was overcome with emotion and Mr Hopkins took her for a walk around the hotel, returning later. She made a second attempt, but again was filled with emotion, and retired for the evening. Mr. Hopkins then told us that she wanted to say how proud She was of her boys and that neither She nor Gov. Stanford had never dreamed the Univ. would extend its influence so far so quickly.

Sincerely Yours

E. E. Morgan
