The new mistress, Miss Thomson,
has well nigh won all our hearts
already. Friday night quite a number
of boys came over and she came among
us all and spoke to every one, start-
ed some games and did all she could
to make it pleasant and break up the
pairing off. I think she will get
along finely and she seemed to be in
sympathy with the calling if they
went home early enough and that can
be managed.

Saturday evening Mrs. Elliott
invited Minnie and me over to take
dinner with them and meet her friend,
Miss Lundy.

Miss Lundy is a bright,
pretty lady and when we had been
seated just a little while she asked
if I was related to General Allabach
of Washington. I had just had a
letter from him and told her so and
explained my relationship. Her
father was his aid-de-camp. She
spoke of Williamsport then, and when
I asked her about that said it was her
home; and she knows Aunt Matt and the
Deemers, etc., and I know where she
lives, all of which made use seem quite
well acquainted. She has been west
for nearly a year and is really on
her way home though she intends to
visit on the way. She is coming over
to play tennis tomorrow afternoon.
