Dr. & Mrs. Elliott are very
pleasant indeed and we enjoyed our
dinner.

You have been going to quiet
a good many theatres, have you not?
I am sorry that you have not my opera
glasses because I have no opportunity
to use them here and perhaps shall
not have until we go to see Mattie.

Well I feel rather stupid
so will close. Lovingly your sister,

Lucy Allabach

Dear Helen:

Now we are enjoying true
California weather, though nature is
not yet so lovely as she will be; but
when I look out of my window I can
but think of the contrast to what you
see from yours.

The grass is now quite thick
and O. so lively and soft. The trees, -
oaks, evergreens and eucalyptus, -are
green and cast their showdows in pic-
turesque forms on the turf, but the
shadows seem more attractive than
they really are, for though the sun
is very warm, it is too chilly to stay
in any shade of tree or building.
