original sources rather than to text
books. Glad to hear of the pleasant
time at Alpine. Give my regards
to the "Los Robles Plateau set," namely
the Hartfords etc. etc.

It seems funny to think of Fred
having a son. It was news to me. I do
not correspond with any one and
haven't written or received a letter exept
from you all since been here. I'll write
sometime when have the time and
inspiration. "James William" is as
English a name as Fred could think of and
from my previous knowledge of his favorite
names I am willing to wager that he, and
he alone, named him. Doubtless he's glad
it's a boy. I'll drop him a line if you all
can get his address. Hope you all get
a girl and that each of you is well and
having things go your own way. Surprize
word will soon be received from Mr. Kauffman.
You might tell anybody who might think it
courtesy for me to write a letter that I haven't
written to anyone. I'll try to write to the
Miss Rothwell if I get courage. Well this is the
news and I must cut now. Love to you all.
Au revoir.
