John I See by the catalogue in the names of the
students there is one by the name Hiram Edgar
Rutan from Mechanicsburg Ohio that is where
I was raised until I was 15 or 16 years old
Father practiced medicin there a long time and
[st?] Rutans was real good Friend of the
family they ware very respectable well to do
farmers sollid men. I wish you would
ask him who his father was. and what
relation he was to Squire Rutan. Ask him
how Aunt Pally Hazle is and Pete Calwell
also. I use to haul hay for Aunt Pally
Hazle or her husband Uncle Jack Hazle

What relation is this young man to Doctor Underwood
wife that died in London Ohio a few year
ago. Ask him wher Fletcher Lansdale lives
in California he came here in the fifties.
Also ask where Tom Woods and Josiah
Davis live or any others from Mechanicsburg
in California this year Hiram Edgar Rutan ought
to be a nice good fellow as his profile are all
very Respectable, and no black sheep in the
family. tell him who you are and your
Grand Fath Colliver was & wher he practiced
and he can't help but be interested in you
I receved a letter from Pete Colwell and
Aunt Pally in Hazle. Since we lived hear, you ma & I allways
