you and to learn that you are
ahead of most of the larger
universities in attempting to
find the answers to many
questions concerning the needs
of those who will return for
further study after the war.

Your good wishes served as
an admirable substitute for
the traditional "hello" which
it is impossible to exchange
at the present time. They helped
to bring Africa that much
closer to home and shortened
the days which weigh pretty
heavily here at times.
