Sydney May 14th 1818,
My dear Brother
The receipt of yours from Batavia
gives us much joy an cause of a great thankfullness
to a Benificient Bestower and was truly as a season
able shower - it was good news from a far Country
and from one whome no longer to hear from, neverthe
less we were much disappointed to hear from that
part of the world being a near Comparatively to this
Colony and when we were expecting to hear of
your arrival in England and a great deail about
the manners and custombs of that delighful spot
(of which I have heard so much) als how you
had disposed of yourself etc - enjoying the happiness
of a large Circle of Pious and affectionate com-
panions in the world; such to me can only be conceived.
However we know and are assured that He who hath
such an unparralleled power in the Creation and
Providence doth and will do all things well -
and therefore must conclude that the event was
for some wise and or other - we ought therefore
to be the more thankfull -
I intimated above that yours was a seasonable
