show - so it was a seasonable shower to me because
I had heard that the Kangaroo was lost on the Coast
of New Zeland and that all hands Perished on Board
The news went there by the Ship Isabella [Trabello?] - I was
the only one of our family that know of it and I merely
by chance, ? could I help giving some little attention
to what was said - What poor mortals are we? how
apt to mistrust a most gracious Providence and at
all times to be in jeppardy - and why is it? it is because
of sin? It must be - and yet the Lord hath Mercy - Thanks
be to Almighty God that you are still numbered among
the living and I hope the living to praise his holy name
I sincerely pray that we may have a full Measure of
Faith Divine found out in due season to enable
us more and more to devote our selves to His service
which is far best -
The Bishop and the -, cannot agree they are
continualy at hammer and Tongs the former has
resigned his official office Justice of the Peice at
Parramatta and so has Mr Cartwright - the B -
has applyed for permission to go home three time
and has been denyed each time -
The Sunday Schools go on better than I could
ever expected the number remains about the old
pitch - the teachers are much less W Gilcrist C Marsden
P. Hoskings and myself are all living at Sydney - W.G.

[MS 641]
P.H. and I live together in a house of Clarksons
were Mr Smith first lived - W.G. keeps a school
he has not many pupils as yet but expects more in
a short time - I think that I make a very smart
or Akward School boy I sencely know which
little James Smith be placed on my my right hand
and Charles Marsden on my left and so much
for School Boys -
I think you will be much supprised to meet
the bearer of this in England I intend sending it by
Miss Cartwright who is going with her Mother. If
Mrs C and the remaining part of the family ?
behind - Mr David Allen and Miss Allen are going ?
with David Shaw and the next that goes will ?
and Mrs Hoskings and the three Boys - by whom I intend
writing more fully.
Your Stock is doing well and the little
cottage remains just in the same place you left it but
the tennants give me much trouble to get the rent from
them I have been able to get the chief part in one way
or other as yet - I hope to have it in my power to send
by W Hosking a ? Bill if I can possiblly get
your Bullocks into the Stores I have made a lease,
and expect a ? next Month.
Poor old Peake is obliged to be turned out of
the concern he is so very stupid that father could not
trust him to do the least thing whatever.
