2nd October 1830

difficulty in calling to your remembrance my
name which probably you have not heard for
the space of 20 years the period in which I visited
New Holland; and but have never forgot the Kindness I
experienced from yourself and family during my
stay at Port Jackson and the assistance you gave
me in procuring a passage to China in the Brig which
took your nephew Hanibal [Hannibal].

Almost immediately on my return
to India I was sent with our Mission under Sir
John Malcolm to Persia and in fact was glad to

the presidency of Madras. From Isphahan [Isfahan] (the Capital)
I sent you some Persian seeds and offered my
services
