the idea, when I was there this time
last year. The eldest son, David
Guestier, and the "Maitre du Chay"
(head cellar man) quite discouraged
the [crossed out - idea] notion when I was last there.
In Switzerland none but German
coopers are employed. Therefore
I presume I must make a visit
to the Rhine for the purpose of
engaging a couple. The casks
I think I can arrange about
for a constant supply. I also propose to bring out one
of the new distilling apparatus.
Our old still must be nearly
done for, and is so slow that
if on that account alone it
ought to be replaced. It has taken

and then expecting I had a day more for writing
than I now apprehend is the case. The "Oneida"
sails from Southampton on the morg. of 19th Inst.
Sir Henry Barkly goes in her to take the Govr. of
Melbourne. I am told her ladyship will be
sure to get every one into hot water, but
you had better keep this to your self.
