My dear Bessie

It is a great shame that I
only write to you at last as a bit of
business – but indeed if you only
know how oppressed I am with the
writing that must be done and by
very severe headaches you would not
think my silence forgetful or unkind

Libby keeps up the links or I should
feel obliged to write to you – I came
up to Town for a few days change
for I have had such pain in my
head and the Dr thought it would
do me good. I left Ellis at home
who has been with me the last
two months – and she is now going
to visit Lady Mackenzie (Sir Roberts
widow) who is living at Lymington
in Hampshire during this winter.
