and I should dread another such
winter as I have spent last year –
I saw Eml Parker in May several times
I was on a visit at Wimbledon
She always entreated me to stay – but
I did not think it good for her or for me
Illness turned me away or I should
have gone for one night to content her .
She evidently enjoys my visits – as
I am the only one who understands
her references to old times –

She is at times quite clear as to these
but then her powers fail & she dozes
Lady M spoke with me as to certain
Monies which she now fails to pay
Dr Burns explained to me, that although
at times she can perfectly under
stand – yet that her memory is so
uncertain that they would not now
be justified in placing a cheque
before her – and I do not expect her
to be different – she was perfectly
