Pulaski, Giles Co October 23rd , 1848

Gov A. S. Brown:

Dear Sir,

I received your favor of the 6th instant, in due time. My absen-ce from home for the week ensuing its re-ception, has been the cause of my over-looking it till this time. As I was led to expect you have bought a place near Nashville. This fastens you, of course, to Davidson County.

By reference to my title-bond, I find that my first payment has been due nearly a month, & that tho time for making my election has also expired.

There can be but one course for me to pursue in the matter. If in, to raise the money. I shall make a strong effort to do so, without selling the lot again. If it has to be done, and whether or not it can be avoided I shall know in a few days, it shall be done.

importance to me, whether I should be obliged to raise the money a few weeks sooner or later, I noticed the remark in your letter, that you would need it some time this fall. Please drop me a line on this branch of the subject.

Nothing of interest in Giles. We have lately had some spirited occassions. Gentry, Jone and others have done fine services by their efforts in the County. I look for a sharp gain: and if an equal number of Lucas fail to vote, we may carry the County

Hon-ex-Govn- A.V. Brown fills a number of appointments in this County just before the election. We have urgently invited Hons Bell, Ew-ing and (Barron?) to come to our help: Suppose you see them and put in a word of persuasion. I would be very sanguine of Giles, if they would come out & give us a turn.

Very truly your friend T. D. Eldridge

P.S. My best respects to Mrs Brown
