New Orleasns October 27 1850 Dear SIr Having been apponted by the Governor of the State a Notary Public and being (?) of being appointed a (?) for your State; I take the liberty of (?) of you the appointment I (?) (?) you with recommendations because I know that they would not influence you in giving in the appointment, if you had any objections in (?) it on me; and I am (?) to help that you know me well enough not to need any recommendations as you may remember my yourself appearance and not my (?) I must remind you that I am older than I appear to be; people tell me that I dont look one hour older then I did three years ago- (?) I am now in my 25^th year. I hope that you will not make my (?) any of when to my (?) the ap= pointment.

I will have renew some (?) I made to you in a letter written for not (?) (?) but to which I received no (?); having (?)= =(?) it to Gallatin and not Nashville Tennessee you have not recieved it. In making the appointment of the (?) fund of the 14^th (?), I made a mistake of one man (a (?)) which has left in my hands about thirty dollars still elonging to the fund. I would request of you to direct me how ot dispose of this amount. If I (?) to appoint it again amongst the heirs of the (?) Soldiers of the Regiment, as directed by the Regimental board, the amount (?) (?) to each would be a (?), probably not 50 cents per man. for that reason I have still retained the amount- if you wish it, I will wait to the officers^lately (?) the Board and recieve from them their (?)
