Ms. Mildred Thompson
Dear Mildred
Congratulation on your appointment at Morehouse and being associate editor for ART PPAPERS. I use to know some of the people there including Dan Tally.
I am late responding as your letter arrived I was out of the country. I was in Mexico in January and more recently have been working on an exhibition of Afro-Brazilian artists.
I would love to do something on Professor Port but would not have time to get it ready for your summer issue as I have so many obligations pending at this time. A full in-depth article outlining his salient contributionn to Afro-American art history and a discussion of his own artistry would be in order. It really should be done .
Please let me know how things continue and whether or not you may delay the issue. My best to you.
Very sincerely,
David C. Driskell

Dear Ms. Louden-Hanes:
Congratulations on setting up your course on Afro-American Art history. I am enclosing a copy of my course outlines and the bibliography. This is about all I can send along and hope it will be of some service.
I would also suggest that you start a clipping file on Afro-American artist and have your students interview living artists for your archive. Wishing you the very best, I am

Ms. Judith Sobol Director The Joan Whitney Payson Gallery of Art Westbrook College Portland, Maine 04103
Dear Joan:
It was good to have your nice note of December 28. I am serving on the Exhibition Committee of AFA. In addition to having put together two of the exhibitions they are circulating, I have been on the board there for 20 years.
I did not know about the Tanner painting at Muskegon and with your permission, will pass this information on to Dr. Dewey Moseby who is putting together the Tanner exhibition for the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Hope to see you this summer when I am again in Maine.
Sincerely,
David C. Driskell

Thank you for your kind not on the video. I would like to get invited by diferent universities to speak on my work, so if you can be of any help I'd appreciate it. Also, I would love to send the catalogue "Contemporary Visual Expressions to the Wilfredo Lam Center in Havana, (they collect information on Afroart). If you have an extra copy I'd appreciate having one for them. So when are you goining with Steve and I to Cuba, anyway? You'd love
