Fay is as kind and devoted as one can be. I would
not do without her. That she may be spared
many many a year to us and her children. Elise
is kind too. Susan is here. I am sorry for
her before God will bless her and relieve her of her
trial. Oh God take me to you when I die is
my constant prayer. It is so lonely [illegible]
you.

June 3rd 1887. Sans Souci, Greerville, So. Ca.
My darling husband. Today is 6 months since
you left us. Oh! which I would not see you
again and kiss and love you. My precious one, by
daily and hourly prayer is that God would
send his Holy Spirit into my heart. I trust
you do not regret dying when you did.
That you are far happier than if you were still
on this earth. I have been working for you
ever since you left us. I have done all I
could to honor your memory. I love you.
