Mat 15th - 05. B. made following report of his ride from Shekh Ali-Kasun to Hama on Mar. 10th. Left Shekh Ali Kasun 1:23 over level country to 2:27 then down gradual slope and over level to side of hill 3:45 when Hama was in sight. Thence to Hama over plain arriving 4:55. Road straight and good pace about 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 miles per hour. Riding all the afternoon with the sun directly in his face.

April 14th - 1905 the "yes's" from Bedwin? have this affix? the old man was deaf. We had sighted same time before the tall Monarch? in Sormin for which we were making but had lost it behind walls of gran? At last we sighted it again and crossing through crops of wheat and ? arrived there at 5:30. It is a white mud town of perhaps 2000 with ? and farm? fields surrounding it. A telegraph line from Ma'arrit in Numan to Alleppo ? by the town that does not tap in. We passed around the town without entering in and at 5:40 left on a good road through cultivated fields arriving Binnish 6:30 average pace all day. B + P left lunch? after us and instead of crossing country from Djubas to Sermin, went on the road around 2 sides of a triangle to teh W. passing through at the Weetirly? apex W wan? Nerab rather small place - mud?.
