Dear Mrs. Phillips:-

Now I can understand why I haven't heard from you. My, you must be a busy woman. I am the Mrs. H.E. Liebherr that called you one evening from the church on 4th + Meinecke Ave. We would like you to talk at our Women's Guild meeting in May. I am sorry to say tho' that this would be an afternoon meeting and an evening meeting.

I told you it was a long story. Well, this is part of it. We belong to the Evangelical and Reform church. We are a very old church + still would like to have a church on 4th + Meinecke. Two years ago, our synod + some officials of the city were concerned that so many churches were moving out of their ward. We joined forces with the Grace Reform Church + raised money to start a new church on 76th + Hope + Appleton Aves. Grace church was sold to Rev. McLin. All of us are worshipping now on 4th & Meinecke

Ave. until the new church is finished. Some of our people will follow the new church, some will worship at 4th + Meinecke. Last summer we had a Daily Vacation Bible School but only our people attended, even tho' 500 fliers were distributed throughout the neighborhood. A Mrs. Davis who is the Secretary of our Upper 3rd Street Neighborhood Girl Scout Leaders gave this answer. She said the reason was there are a lot of churches in that neighborhood + they seem to be serving your people.

We as a women's group are interested in all of this + would like you to come in + talk to us. This would be May 20th. The day meeting would be at 4th + Meinecke Ave, the evening meeting would be at the Chapel on 67 the + Capital. This is a small chapel serving the people that have already settled where our new church is in the process of being built. If you couldn't come to either one or the other meeting could you suggest someone else? We would have to know early as we are the Christian Social Action Committee and are scheduled to have this ready for our next Executive Board meeting. Thank You Sincerely,

Mrs. H.E. Liebherr 3819 - N. 9th St. Mil. 6 Wis

Mr. Spence had surgery on Monday. I came here Sunday. He has been very poorly but thanks to God he seem to be improving nicely, only slow. I don't know how long he will be here, but I shall be coming home soon as he is much better.

Mrs. Phillips, I have been thinking so much about your dear Mother and her condition. I know you're doing all you can for her and have the best Dr. but I would like to
