United States Senate Chamber, Washington Dec 8th 1881

Mrs. C.B. Colby V.P.N.W.S.A. Beatrice, Nebr: Madam,

In reply to yours of 28th ult: permit me to say that you have not mistaken my sentiment and position in regard to the cause you have so much at heart.

I have committed myself to the advocacy of woman's suffrage and shall stand to my frequent utterances. Whenever the subject comes before Congress I shall vote for the formation of a permanent committee to take cognizance and direction of this important subject.

Very Respectfully Alvin Saunders
