Department of Commerce and Labor Light-House Establishment

Office of Engineer, 13th District Portland, Oreg.

August 22, 1906.

The Light-House Board, Washington, D. C.

Sirs: I have the honor to report that the building occupied by the Second Assistant Keeper at Yaquina Head Light-Station, Oregon, is absolutely unfit for human habitation. This matter has been repeatedly reported and the recommendation for a new dwelling has been made in the Boards's last six annual reports. A carpenter work-shop and store house are urgently required, the present work shop building being old and dilapitated. It is believed that this building can be repaired and temporary quarters provided for this Keeper who is a single man. Authority is therefore respectfully requested to repair and remodel this building at a cost of not to exceed $500.00 per detailed estimate herewith, the cost to be paid from funds now on hand belonging to the appropriaton, Repairs & Incidental Expenses of Light-Houses, 1907. If this estimate be approved it is recommended that the work be done by hired labor and purchase of necessary materials
