1853 July 5th Jacob & Jordan Plowing

6th Same work Finished stacking wheat &
Rye, & working in 3rd yrs Tobacco ground
Haling up & stacking Oats. I & Jordan Lay-
ing by Corn in Johns’s field very dry
& hot, yet no Rain to wet much for 6 or 8 weeks
Nannie gone to see Mrs McCullocks
Hesters shoe lost last Saturday been on
her about a week, Fair & Hot

7th Still dry & Hot put in fine Tobacco to prize -
Put out all in prize Barn to Sun
Plowing in Johns’s field 2 Plows Henry stacking
Oats, working 3rd yrs Tobacco, Jerry started
to School - this morning clear & no for Rainprospect

12 Halled up Tobacco out of new Barn back of
Garden & prizing & assorted, still dry tho
like for rain this morning - a little Cooler
Finished yesterday Halling up our Oats

13. Worked Out Garden Hilled Sweet Potatoes
Plowed Cotton & Hilled that up gathering
clover seed, Laying by Corn in Johns s field

19 Finished Plowing Corn, Plowing Tobacco

20 Plowing Tobacco assorting Tobacco
Hilling up new ground Tobacco.
Rains commencing coming this day - & we
commenced planting Tobacco last Saturday

21st This day & yesterday we replanted all
Our Crop & whole planted a little of the
Lot, Still cloudy & Raining Fed shoemaking

25th Sent Fed to Millers Mill 5 Bus wheat
for flour 7 Bushels corn for meal
Plowing Mr Neals corn to day Plowing
Tobacco Prizing Tobacco, silling up
Hhd etc, fair fine weather

26 Plowing & Hilling up Irish Potatoes
working Tobacco etc etc
