1871 July 3rd JR Whitehead sent waggon down
to day & got his Tobacco & its gone, -

4[unclear] Cutting Oats hired Sam Mattherly to help
us cut oats, began to cut oats this side of branch
a little while before 12 oclock cut till about
4 oclock in evening & stop on acct of a
little rain & cut no more this evening Mr M
cut 1⅔ day 5 [unclear] & we went to other work, in Tobacco

July 8 Started to Lynchg on Wednesday last with
2 Hhds Lugs Sams Interested, working out Tobacco
in Lot etc. Sam chopping more corn fine weather
Very warm got back Saturday about 12 oclock

9 went to Meeting Sunday 8 in the evening
Mr Moses Fannie & children here came up a cloud
& rained Very hard fine Season for plantingTobacco

10 replanting all over of our Tobacco Setting
up oats Drawing plants etc etc Doron Commenced work

11 Setting up corn working out Lot
Tobacco Doron commenced workPlowed over turnip Patch & corn
by Sweet Potatoe Patch & Black Smith Shop
Rained a little yesterday

12 Put new pints on Martins & Dorons Plow this
this morning did not rain last night

13th Rained last night hard & this morning
We are fencing Picking up roots in new ground

14th I went to Jacobs Creek plantation old place
& to James Kelleys to day

14 Robert help Sam G Plow pt of the day
this day cutting up Beech at Spring fenced
Lot fence yesterday Picked up roots in new ground
Let Jacob my Buggy to send for their Baby at Mrs Monroes
Doron went with Jacob home began to fix Patch Corn
for Hogs Robert Plowing it Come up a cloud &
Rained a Smart Shower of Rain did not
finish patch corn above granary

15 Sam went to Creaseys Ben & Lewis Helping
Martin Choping Corn till 12 oclock & then
Went to Plowing by Johns Spring Rained again
