May 10th Thursday Went to the Depot [Wards] Springs after guano to day Brought back ten sacks Six for the plantation four for home finished Hauling out Tobacco stalks on Tobacco lot

Friday Replowing tobacco lot and Scattering Manure uncovered the plant bed in the glade and manured it with guano -

Saturday Raining to day planted collards in garden did not get quite done Hauling leaves for Stables uncovered Plant Bed back of Jordans to day.

May 13th Sunday

May 14th Monday Shrubbing and rooting and Harrowing in new ground ground very wet cut Ditch in front of dining roombranch on

May 15 Tuesday listing tobacco land

May 16 Replanting corn commenced hilling in fresh ground

May 17 Hilling in fresh ground all hands replanting corn in evening

May 18 Replanting corn plowed up land on Dich and planted over again.

May 19 replanting corn and planting a rough place on ditch warm fine growing weather

1877 May 24 Sent 1½ Barrels corn to Yates Mill & 1 Log for mayfor Self 1 Barrel corn for me & 2½ Bus for Jacob

May 21 Whitsentide Holiday

May 22d Worked out potatoes Irish worked out garden planted peas and Broom Corn Hilling in new ground

May 23d replanting corn Hilling in new ground

May 24th Election day went to Yeatts Mill Carried 7½ Bus Corn 2½ for myself - carried one Small log - all hands in new ground Hilling trying to finish -

June 5 Planted Corn in flat on Branch in front of dinning room door to day weeding corn very dry weather planted no Tobacco yet

June 6th Some rain passing about but a very light shower here still very dry weather corn looking well finished weeding corn to day bushing the oats and fixing lot Tobacco land for Tobacco

1877 June 7 fixing up Tobacco land lot on the hill at the Stable -Come went to Plantation after corn to day finished fixing My tobacco land Used Nearly two Bags of Gillams Fertilizer on lot next to new Ground used two Bags of Piedmont on Fresh Ground at Prise Barn used one Bag nearly of Walton and Whanns Fertilizer on lot on the Hill opposite Stable used one Bag of Piedmont on lot at Black Smith Shop Come a fine rain this evening commenced drawing plants

June 8 Planting Tobacco to day all hands going in a hurry finished planting fine season --

June 10 Sunday raining to day fine Season ground thougherly wet -

June 11th thinning corn all hands to day

June 12 finished thinning corn to day corn looking well settled up with Annie Hubbard Pa and myself Paid her $250

June 13th Sent to Millers Mill Barrel corn for meal Jacob gone to Depot after [Tier] wards Springs June 14 [uisng] Tobaco to prise

June 30th Commenced laying by corn to day nearly done weeding down Tobacco -- ground very wet been very Seasonable for several weeks crop looking well done cutting wheat - prised and sent off all the Tobaco on Hand made last year oats ripening very fast and looking well --

July 2nd Monday A Hail Storm today the Hail Stones fell as large as turkey Eggs but did no Serious damage no wind in the cloud at all Hail Stones were in very different sort of Shapes and some of them Bussted in pieces when they fell - we are laying by corn crop looking well

July 7th finished laying by corn today except about one half days plowing

July 9th Monday Cutting oats to day Jimmie plowing in Tobacco with shovel plow commenced plowing tobacco second time to day

July 26 1877 Sold Coleman Dews cow on order from Jerry H Graves a cow and calf Cows name Spot - for $2000 payable Christmast last My corn House [K] the

23d July Some Where at. Home Halled two loads of Lumber from Hancock Mill to place on creek Carried 13 pieces from Home that I agreed to furnish [East]

1877 July 26 Stacking oats to day some of them little Damaged by the long Wet Spell some of the Hogs belonging to Pa are sick

Harigan began to dig the well the 22 october 1877 on the creek Pleasant Dillard and Fed began to work on well 23 october 1877 on creek

come to water by the third day and by friday night he finished diging and walled it up 12 feet the well is 24½ feet deep My Contract with Mr Harigan is as follows I furnish him two hands to help him and feed him and the hands and pay him twenty five cents a foot for diging and twenty five cents a foot for walling it up Herrigan finished digging the well got to water in three days

Nov 2nd Horrigan working on Well house all this week. Fed working with him all this week

Nov 2nd Jacob started to wards Spring this morning for well fixtures. Cloudy and like for rain.

1877Nov 21Jacob killed and brought 7 hogs up here today from plantation and they wayed as follows 158, 170, 12[?] 142, 94, 70, 63, total amt 826 Raining To day, Nov 22 still Raining
