Mr. L. Heilbron stated that the filling up of the cemetery has been completed at a cost of $ 25.00. On motion it was ordered to draw a warrant on the Treasurer for that amount to be taken out from special cemetery funds. Mr. Heilbron moved that the balance of the cemetery fund in the Treasury be reverted to the general fund. The motion prevailed.

The Secretary was instructed to communicate with Mr. S. Gerson, stating that his resignation could not be accepted unless he gives a note payable at any time as he sees fit or making it in monthly installments, otherwise he will be suspended for nonpayment of dues. The Secretary was also instructed to make out the bills for $50.00 each for Mr. Dennery and S.S. Nathan for the privilege of reserving burial plots in cemetery, also to notify Mrs. Bories to pay the balance of $50.00 for the plot. The Secretary was instructed to write a letter of apology to Mr. [S. Marks?] for the action of the collector, which the Board regrets very much, and he is welcome when ever he can find it convenient to attend services at the synagogue.

No further business appearing, the meeting adjourned.

Sacramento, January 25, 1899

The Board of Officers met in the synagogue at 8 P.M. Mr. Albert Elkus, President, presiding. Roll call - Treasurer Emil Steinman, Trustee A. Bonheim and school director H. Fraley and J. Auchel noted absent. Minutes of last regular meeting read and approved. The following resignations were read and accepted. E.S. Elkus, B. Phillips, Mrs. N.G. Nathan. The resignation of Mrs. H. Woolf was on motion referred to the president.

Communication from Rabbi A.R. Levy in regards to the Baron farmers was referred to Rabbi Simon, the same to be read from the pulpit on a week from next Friday evening, Feby. 3. [Note]

The president reports that he had collected $50.00 from Mrs. Dennery and $50.00 from Mrs. Bories for burial plots, and he has paid the same to the secretary.

On motion it was ordered that the $100.00 from the cemetery funds be loaned to the congregation.

On motion it was ordered that the amounts due from Mrs. Miller for seats be remitted.

The following bills were read and ordered paid & warrants drawn on the treasurer.

Capital Gas Co. $5.05 M. Glickman for wood 7.00 Secretary advertising .75

The following salaries wer ordered paid and warrants drawn on the treasurer Rabbi Simon 150.00 M. Wilson, col. 50.00 N. Mohns, cemetery 15.00 Mrs. Hanley, Organist 10.00 Mrs. Ross, singing 10.00

No further business appearing the meeting adjourned

Sacramento, March 29, 1899 The Board of Officers met in the Synagogue after adjournment of the semiannual meeting of the congregation. Mr. Albert Elkus, President, presiding.

Roll call of officers all noted present. The minutes of last regular meeting were dispensed with the reading.

The Secretary reported that several members were in arrears. On motion it was ordered that a Committee of one consisting of Mr. Thieben be appointed to wait on the delinquent members and induce them to pay up or they will be dropped from the roll.

Bills were ordered paid as follows Capital Gas 6.85 M. Glickman for Wood 7.00 M. Wilson for cutting wood 2.50 Day & Joy printing postal cards 1.90 Mr. Mohns balance of bill 15.00

The regular salaries were allowed as follows and warrant drawn on the Treasurer Rev. Abram Simon 150.00 M. Wilson, Collector 50.00 Mrs. Hanley, Organist 10.00 Mrs. Ross, Singing in Choir 10.00 Mr. Mohns taking care of Cemetery 15.00 Total Disbursed $268.25 Rev. Simon Salary for April 150.00 $418.25

Trustees Meeting Congregation B'nai Israel Sacramento, April 26th, 1899

The officers of the Congregation B'nai Israel met in the synagogue at 8 P.M. Mr. Albert Elkus, President presiding.

Roll call, Messrs. H. Weinstock, A. Bonheim and J. Auchel & Mr. S. Lavenson noted absent. Minutes of last meeting read and approved.

The resignation of Mr. J. Hyman as a member of the congregation was read and on motion the same was ordered adopted.

Bills were read as follows and ordered paid & warrants drawn on the treasurer for the amounts. Capital Gas Co. 4.60 Day & Joy Printing 1.00 Secretary, postal cards and advertising services 1.75

A communication from G.B. Stack dated 21st inst. stating that he had submitted a bill for work done on the sewer connecting Mr. Harris and the synagogue's closets system. The pipes at the junction of the alley [?between] J & K was broken and sewage flooded Mr. Grant's basement, occupied by the Pabst's beer saloon. The bill amounting to $22.25 and that Mr. Harris is willing to pay one half of the bill 11.12 1/2 and asks the synagogue for the payment of the other half. On motion it was ordered that the bill be referred to the Building committee.

A communication from H.M. Porter addressed to the chairman of the cemetery committee offering to whitewash or color the fence and wall white or a pink color and cement up all the holes in the brick wall in a workman like manner for $35.00

The V. President Mr. L. Heilbron stated that it very necessary that it should be fixed that there a very large holes in the inside walls of the cemetery and would ask the Board to give him authority to have the work done from the first

money that comes in. On motion, the request was granted.

The president, Mr. A. Elkus, reported that he had consulted with some of the officers of the congregation in regard to offer Mr. Schreiber's stated bills paid during his stay in the city, and has taken upon himself to pay $10.00 for the expenses.

On motion, the action of the president was approved and an order drawn on the treasurer for the amount in favor of Mr. Albert Elkus.

The secretary reported that he received from the vice president a 5.00 amount donated from Mr. Phil C. Cohen from Folsom and the amount has been paid to the treasurer and that a letter of thanks was sent to Mr. Cohen.

On motion it was ordered that a warrant be drawn on the treasurer in favor of the trustees for $43.50 to pay the taxes in city and county.

The secretary reported that Mr. M. Davis stated that he cannot afford to pay his dues in the congregation. On motion, it was ordered that his name be dropped from the roll. The secretary also reported that he had made out bills for Mr. Weinstock for a month in advance to pay Rev. Simon. No further business apppearing, the meeting adjourned.
