Fri July 29 Cloudy and cool in the morning but cleared off after a while and was quite nice. Lew got ready and went to Greeley and I suppose that Mary McBride went with him. Kib work at cleaning out the corn and stuff. Jake and I went up to windy hill and finished mowing the ditch banks. Then we came down here and worked at cleaning out the corn and truck.

Sat July 30 Clear some and pretty warm and rained a little once or twice. Lew still not back from Greeley. The boys and I done quite a lot of chores and odd jobs finished the orchard and corn towards the barn and plowed and harrowed the strawbery [strawberry] patch and the piece west of the ice house. I mowed around a good bit.

Sun July 31 Pretty fair day but pretty hot. Lew has not got back from Greeley yet. Jake went down to Gus Carsends reports crops a looking very fine in that part of the county. Kib and I and the rest of the girls all kept Sunday nicely and Grace is here making Helen and us all a visit.

Mon Aug 1st Threatened rain some but was a pretty good day after all. Lew got home a little before sun set. Jake and Kib fixed fences until along in the afternoon then greased a couple of calves for lice and then hauled a couple of loads of manure on to the strawberry bed. I mowed the piece of alfalfa over on the hill and raked around the ditches with the hand rake.
