Mon July 21 Big rains all around but only a little here. Dave fished and had Harry Dixon and Don Conkling to help him but they had rather poor success and only caught 175. I hoed corn pretty steady what time I could got to put in at it.
Tues July 22 Just such another day as we have had for nearly a week. Rain all around and sprinkle a little here. I hoed corn in the forenoon and a little in the afternoon. Mr Balcom turned me out about 13 or 14 inches to the share and I am using it on the pieces east of the railroad.

Wed July 23 Pretty nice day. Dave went and brought home Sam and turned him into the field. I kept the water running onto the alfalfa east of the lake and hoed corn for a business and got the piece done just quitting time.
Thurs July 24 Nice day. Dave and Plummer went to town came back across the new bridge over the Eaton ditch at last. I mowed weeds along the Dykes and ditches on the windy hill place most all day but got it pretty well done. Charleys folks have got home but the other party have not got home yet.

Fri July 25 Nice again to day. Heard nothing of the Mountaineers. I cut around the wheat field over in the N W corner and filled up the ditch that runs down through the wheat so that piece is ready to cut. Then I worked at the other piece a while.
Sat July 26 Very fine day. Lew and the girls got home about 9 o clock last night. Lew went to get Mr Wrights binder but it was not ready. He cultivated the piece east of the barn this afternoon. Dave went to town and got some twine etc. I finished getting the piece north of the house ready this forenoon and this afternoon I hoed corn and melons between the house and barn.

Lew went and got Mr Wrights binder and we raised the old scratch getting across the ditch broke one casting and the doubletree so Lew went to town and got another casting and I made a new doubletree then we started up but evrything [everything] is rusty and dusty and we didnt make much progress.

Commenced irrigating on J K Howards place to day.
Tues July 29 Another just such a good for nothing day. Rained just enough to make it nasty but not enough to do any good. Lew got the first piece finished and went a few times around the other. I irrigated with a fine head of water on the north end of the side hill piece and set up wheat for a business.
Wed July 30 Another of them fool days. Rained a little. Lew finished cutting the wheat and took the binder to Harry Dixon. I irrigated and set up wheat and Lew helped set up wheat in the afternoon. Dave went to Jon Dragers in the afternoon to see how he is. We heard that he had the typhoid fever.
