Gentlemen:

We, the undersigned, property owners along the line of Rollin Street, in the City of Seattle, would respectfully remonstrate against the granting of petition of Jacob Furth et al. for a franchise to locate, construct and maintain and operate a line of railway in along and upon Rollin Street, for the reason that we are not satisfied as to whether or not said Jacob Furth et al. will furnish to the public satisfactory railway facilities etc. And we would petition your Honorable Body to grant the prayer of the petition heretofore presented to your honorable Body by Luther H. Griffith to locate construct and operate a line

Dec 12/84 Be it remembered that on this the 12th day of December 1884 The Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in it's Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment. The Following Officers are present Towit: His Honor the Mayor John Leary and Councilmen Geo. F. Frye, W.A. Harrington, B.L. Northup, Alfred Snyder, H.L. Yesler, W.G. Latimer & W.V. Rinehart. Thereupon the following proceedings are had: Petitions Rec'd From Trustees of Lake View Cemetery et al for repairing the Cemetery Road, Referred to Street Comtee From the Chief of Police suspending Officer Thomas Ross from the Police Force because of Drunkenness while on duty. In favor of said order Frye, Harrington, Northrup, Snyder, Yesler, Latimer, & Rinehart. Against the same; none. Communications and Reports From the Health officer on the petition of L.W. Foss recommending that an extension of time be granted to L.W. Foss and W.W. Evans in which to remove their slaughter Houses and that the Hog ranch Nuisance maintained by H. Chaffee be abated. Ordered that L.W. Foss and W.W. Evans have until April 1, 1885 in which to remove their Slaughter Houses. From the Street Committee on the petition of D.T. Denny et al for the extension and establishment of Rollin Street north to Pike Street at Fifth Street, recommending the granting of the petition. Lombard, Payne and Birch Sts Opening of Lombard, Payne & Birch Sts Opening of From Thos Mercer et al for opening Lombard, Payne and Birch Street in Collins addition. Referred To Street Committee [Hose Co #1] admitted to Fire Dept From The Board of the Delegates recommending the admission of "Hose Co No 1" to the Seattle Fire Department. Thereupon said recommendation is approved and said "Hose Co. No. 1" is hereby declared admitted into the Seattle Fire Department. Ordered that the Clerk be & is hereby instructed to notify said Commission that a fence has heretofore been ordered by the Council for the Cemetary and further ordered that the Committee on Public Buildings, Property and Grounds in connection with said Cemetary Commission be and are instructed to repair the fence around the City Park and to make certain other repairs to said Park grounds. Rollin St Extension From Surveyor reporting progress on Rollin Street Extension ordered that the surveyor be & is hereby instructed to complete the plat of such extension. Moltke St From Street Committee reporting against granting the petition of A.E. Houser et al for opening Moltke Street. Report adopted.
