Petition to Extend City Limits of Seattle To the Honorable, the City Council, the Legislative Body of the said city of Seattle, hereby respectfully petition that the boundaries of the City of Seattle be altered and extended so as to include the new territory hereinafter described within the said City of Seattle after proceedings had as required by law, and that you submit to the electors of said city and to the electors residing in the said territory hereinafter described, the question whether said territory shall be annexed to said City of Seattle and become a part thereof. Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned until Friday Dec 26 at 7 o'clock pm attest E S Osborne clerk Approved John Leary mayor Dec 26/84 Be it remembered that on this the 26th day of December, 1884 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber puruant to the Call of His Honor the Mayor. The Following officers are present to wit: His Honor the Mayor John Leary and Councilmen Chas F Clancy, Geo F Frye, W A Harrington, B L Northrup, Alfred Snyder, E F Sox, H L Yesler, W H Latimer and W V Rinehart Thereupon the following proceedings are had: A petition is rec'd from Wm Campbell et al for the appointment of Dan'l McKeon as Chief of the fire Department, Referred to Fire Comtee with instruction to report forthwith Ordered that Assistant Chief of the Fire Department Dan'l McKeon be & is hereby temporarily appointed to perform the duties of Chief of the Fire Department until the Board of Fire Delegates for the purpose of appointing of the Fire Department in place of G Kellogg Ordinances The atty submits an Ordinance entitled "To provide for the remissionof the Ten Percent penalty upon all general and special taxes for for the year 1884 which shall be paid prior to the First day of March 1885." To the Mayor & City Council for the City of Seattle Herewith we submit a remonstrance signed by the Merchants and Property holders and the Firemen of this City against the proposed removal of No 2 Engine With the exception of Mr Keating and Mr Ritterhoff Every person Who has seen the remonstrance have experssed a wish to sign it We mention the names of these two gentlemen not to qustion their motives only to prove our assertion and show the practical unanmity of public sentiment an the question of removal We will say further that in getting signers We have where a known predijudice was Entertained against the Council Not presented this remonstrance Respectfully Submitted G Kellogg J McDonald L P Terry Com on remonstrance
