To The Consolidated Street Railway Company Seattle Washington Gentlemen By order of the Board of Public Works you are hereby notified to at once repair and otherwise put in good condition for travel the space between the rails and between the tracks of the railway operated by you on Howell Street and on Albert Street in the City of Seattle. William T Scott Corporation Counsel Frank A Steele Assistant Corporation Counsel Melvin G Winstock City Attorney The City of Seattle Law Department Seattle, Washington Dec 3, 1894 to the Honorable of Public Works City of Seattle Gentlemen:Answering the communication of the Secretary of date December 1st, 1894, in relation to the duty of the street railway company to keep the street in repair on Howell and Albert Streets, I have to say, that the ordinance granting the franchise to the Seattle Electric Railway & Power Company provides that in the construction of the railway the company shall leave the streets in as good condition for travel as the same were before the construction of the road. It also provides that the railway company shall keep its road in good condition and repair. In my judgement this means that the space between the tracks and the rails shall be kept in such a condition that the street can be used; and whatever improvements may be necessary to put the street in good condition for travel should be made by the railway comany so tht the streets may be in as good condition for use as they were before the construction of the road. I would recommend that a notice be served upon the railway Company to place the street in good condition for travel where it is out of repair before any action is taken by your honorable body towards

Seattle September 26th 1889. To the Honorable City Mayor and Council of Seattle We the undersigned Contractors of Albert Street of Seattle beg of your honorable Body an extension of 30 days on account of being unable to obtain lumber for the Construction of sidewalks and Box Drains & Etc. in specified time; now sufficent Lumber is promised us for delivery next week fo fulfill our Contract. The following officers are present: his Honor the Mayor Robt Moran Councilmen F J Burns, D E Durie Jos Green and U R Niesz There being no quorum present it is ordered that the Council adjourn until Thursday at 8 o'clock PM Aug 23rd. Robert Moran Attest C W Ferris Depty Clerk Aug 23 1888 Be it remembered that on this 23nd day of Aug AD 1888 the Common Council of the City of Seattle met in their Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment. ' The following officers are present: his Honor the Mayor Robt Moran and Councilmen F J Burns, D E DurieJos Green Thos E Jones, U R Niesz and Dep Clerk C W Ferris Petitions etc. Petition of G W Gillette and others for the opening of Albert Street read and referred to Street Committee. Petition of H Carson and others for an additionial police officer of Front Street north of Pike Street Read and referred to Com on Health and Police Communication from Mr J G Scurry City Surveyor, in regard to the sliding earht along the Mill Street grade. Read and referred to the Street Com. and City Surveyor to report at next meeting. Ordered that a committee of three be appointed
