1846 Oct 31. Raining nearly all day
Novr 1st drizling rain nearly all day — 2. ground too wet to Plow Fed sho emaking. Henry gone to saw & Gras[ty] mill cleaning out stables & spining
3. Henry carried another large stack to saw mill Fed shoemaking Lila spins alse & Ann fencing etc etc wrote to Mr Dove to saw the Log sent yesterday into Hhd Heading & the one carried this day into flooringPlank out of the Hhd Heading I am to return Mr Dove 74 feet of the same sort lent Spring
4th Sent to Saw mill & Gras[ty] Mill to day
5 Plowing up Land for wheat
6 Plowing up land for Do
7 Raining a little nearly all day Henry went to shop & Mr. Wm Dews
8 Still cloudy Fed & Henry1 or 2 days this weekshoemaking this evening it cleared off Just before sun down
9th Sent another good size log wrote to Mr Dove to saw it intofull¾ squared Plankedges
10. Sent 2 Logs to saw mill this [da]y wrote to Mr Dove to saw first card into weatherboarding & next into squared edged Plank getting anext [skirting?] on sides — Fed shoemaking began to Grub in new ground yesterday & at it to day —
11 Plowing & Bushing inn wheat in Big field & Halling Stalks etc
12 Bushing & Plowing in wheat in big field Choping round stumps & etc etc etc Put up Steer mark, to fatten several days ago
13th nearly done the square by middle laid off first to sew in wheat & choped round the stumps etc etc
April 3 - 26, 1847
3rd April 1847 Finished this morning Sewing Oats coltering & Hilling & Plowing for corn — — — Sewed flax Seed On Branch this day

5. Easter went to Republican

7 Planted Sweet & Irish Potatoes & GardenPeas back of Garden -
15 Rained yesterday morning & last night a little, planted corn in garden Snaps Beets etc about 1st Apl Mouse & Pink had their calves about 12th Lilas Leg sealed about 8 Inst., — planted water melon seed in Sweet Potatoe Patch - 16 Fine Rain yesterday
16 Packing Tobacco, etc etc
17 Turned off cool & we commenced on yesterday 16 to plant corn in fresh ground & finished that pt this evening, -
18 Fair & cool 19. Cloudy & cool planting corn below barn in big field
19 Laying off corn ground & collering & Halling in new ground
20 Same work 21st began to Plant corn at 12 Oclock Finished breaking corn ground 20th - 22nd Planting corn in big field - Johns, - Tobacco plants small
23. Planting corn etc weather dry
24th Rained a little last night, nearly done planting Johns field - uncovered little plant Bed above House, -
25 fair day, cool weather Finished planting corn except flatLand 26 Beding flat ground & cleaning up on Branch, alse & Jane Hilling in new ground

1846 14th July. Plowing fresh ground Corn & hilling up Lot Tobacco, I am Toping Tobacco Lila Hilling up cotton alse working out Garden & Hilling up Peas & Irish Potatoes
15 Plowing Corn in Fresh ground. balance Finishing hillingupLot Tobacco & wh[e]at they begin on yesterday Potatoes Peas etc etc,
16th hilling Branch Tobacco — Plowing corn yet & nearly done laying by, Raining this morning beautifully -
17 Finishing laying by Corn thisyesterdaymorning but Little rain, - Stacking oats this day & Hilling up branch Tobacco
18. Raining to day more or less all day - Working at branch Tobacco
19. Raining all night & Still raining this morning ground quite wet, the Lord be thanked — an elegant time for corn etc etc etc etc
20 Went to Court Rained a little choping new ground Tobacco & Toping all we have over Plowing up ground for Buck Wheat
21st Sewed Buck Wheat & Hilling up second yrs ground Tobacco —
22nd Hilling up same & Halling leaves to stable —
23rd Started to Milton with F. White to School this day. got there 24 & Returned home 25th July 1846 Started the Oats & worked out our Tobacco while I was done alse choped some in corn
26 Sunday & cloudy —
27 Monday Toping Tobacco choping Corn etc
28 getting & Beeting apples, at night Rained hard ground quite wet
29 Beeting apples & treading out wheat.

June 8 - 23, 1847
1847 June 8th Planted Lot this day Plowing Potatoes Greens corn etc in garden Cotton & Peas Patch this day & then for corn field, all truck Patches wed
11th Finished planting Tobacco 10th yesterday Plowing & weeding corn - drilled This morning replanting Tobacco, fine Rain last night ground quite wet wheat & oats Greens & Potatoes look nice
12 Lady Jane takes the season, Plowing & weeding flat Land Corn about this time very season able weather 13th Rained again & it has been Raining for most of June tho quite moderate when not Raining we can work the Land as yet somewhere
14th Replanted Lot & fresh ground Tobacco
15 Weather very cool indeed & fair weeding & Plowing Johns field at this time begin to Lay by fresh ground adjoining new ground this day 2 Plows Lila & Henry
16 Weather cool & like for Rain finished John’s field plowing second time weeding corn yet, sewed Pea Patch & in corn field.
17 Laying by fresh ground corn & weeding corn 18 Finished fresh ground 19th Harrowed branch & weeding corn very seasonable
21. Replanted Tobacco choped bushes & thined over fresh ground, - finished weeding corn & began to weed Tobacco in new ground - Hilling up greens
22nd Laying by drilled corn at home wed Johns branch Tobacco & Potatoes
23 Replanted branch Tobacco Laying by corn, Fed gone after scythe & Cradle alse to the shop etc etc etc etc

1847 June 23rd Plowing Sweet Potatoes Peas & Cotton Patch this day — — —
26. Thursday & friday cloudy & Rainy Laying by corn when wet Raining Fed shoemaking balance weeding new ground Tobacco, Plowing in Johns field - clear this morning
28 Fine growing weather began to cut wheat saturday evening & this morning Plowing in corn field & Hilling Sweet Potatoes & then for cutting wheat etc in fresh ground 29th Laying by corn 29thnext to orchard, & weeding down second yrs ground, - tremendous Rain this evening
30 ground full wet to wet cut some wheat to day & Plowed some —
July 1st Plowing next to orchard & weeding seconds yrs Tobacco Land weather cool at night & mornings
2nd & 3rd. Laying by big field & lot Tobacco & cutting wheat etc etc
5 Hilling up cotton weeding Lot Tobacco nearly done laying buy Corn
8. Not quite done Laying by Corn. Hilling up Sweet Pottoes, — fixing Turnip Patch Raining this evening —
9 Raining this morning & it rained very hard last evening — weather warm, Fed shoemaking alse & Ann shelling Corn Jane & Lila spining, Henry gone to shop
10 Henry gone to mill with 2 Bbls Corn, Balance Grubing in new ground Rained for several days hard & ground very wet
12 Cutting wheat about this time
20 Cutting Oats & Finished this day — got up most of our wheat Saturday 17. Tobacco all very bad off wet & Grass
