6th Finished Hilling new ground 12 Oclock to day 2 Colters on Branch & 1 in second years ground 7th Hilling above granary

7th Began yesterday at 12. Henry finish ing Coltering one way on way^Branchby 12 today Fed Halling out manure to day — Phil Hilling, went to mill to day —

8 Fed Halling out manure Henry & Phil Coltering & laying off second yrs land Balance Hilling of it An Elegant Rain this evening Set out our garden in Greens before the Rain to day —

9th Fencing & Picking mountain Plant Beds & made a beginning to Plant Tobacco this morning in new ground Fly & chintz in wheat, which bid fair for a crop till lately corn sellling at from $3 1/2 to $5.

1846 Sept 7th Weather has been quite wet the past week but now fair & warm We have 2 stacks fodder ready to stack & on days pulled more & have not cut any tops yet

8 Finished pulling fodder & have got 8 stacks of fodder stack & 2 in House & 2 more to stack

9 Cutting tops this day & worming & succoring Tobacco — Doct Miller has been 2 times to see Phil & furnished some medicine came this morning when I did not look for him — Malissa also sick

11th become uneasy & sent for Doct Miller again for Phil he is quite sick

13. Doct Miller has been 4 or 5 times to see Phil & he is quite low

15 Succoring Tobacco - 16 succoring Tobacco & have not cut any Tobacco yet Phil very low — wrote to Fanny W by Bro Hubbard sent her 50¢

16 Phil Died Just before day 17th & buried in evening, weather changeable

17. Succoring Tobacco 18th, weather cool

19. began to Cut Tobacco yesterday on Branch & will Keep on till one get over. finished on Branch & began in Lot to day. Fed gone to mill new corn

to Fanny White & sent the Bundle & letter to Mr. Grastys to carry to Court to send on to Fanny White as Mr Hubbard failed to go on to Beulah association at Milton this morning Bundle still here Mr. Grasty did not go to Court ^{sent the letter on 26th by} _{mail to Milton}

17th Sept⁴⁷ Began to Cutt Tobacco on Johns Branch wednesday evening 15th now Cutting on Spring Branch put up seven stacks fodder & some in house Went to Lynchg Last week & carried 27 ^B 24 lbs wheat & 1½ Bus Corn very wet time, sold wheat for 90¢ corn for 55¢

27 Since the Seventeenth we have finished our Blade fodder, 12 stacks 9 Double 3 Single & finished this morning finished cutting Tops Cured 600 Hundred Stacks Tobacco in prize Barn & Expect to begin to Lot Tobacco this evening, Several of our family have been sick, Jerry sick at this time Doct Thompson has been one visit & 2 Call visits to see him, Now he is mending - Thanks be God Weather warm & no frost yet, -Great deal of Tobacco to cut last week Talton worked on chimney 2½ or nearly

Oct 2nd Halling up & stacking Top fodder gathering Beans Peas & snap seed, etc etc, carried the 1st of this week 2 Bbls Corn to mill for meal my wife gone to Mrs Hunts Jerry better

23rd Thrashing wheat & finished this day - Joel Hubbard machine — fair & Dry — fixing to Thrash at Mrs McCullocks, Keatts machine

24th going to carry the machine to Crew Miller this morning Fed sick yesterday & done ^{the wheat}nothing in choping in corn - finished Hilling up Tobacco [on?]

28th Halling Rock to build chimny to Henrys House still cloudy & like for Rain, wind Blew hard yesterday Sunday — Malissas child a Girl was Born Thursday morning before day Break say Juste after midnight, on the 24th July 1851.

29th went to Colo Smiths Plantation & to Mrs McCullock a little shower rain after I got home & in the night it rained again Smartly, my ^{the tooth ach}wife got
