A bad day. Cloudy and raining tonight. Ben painted some today. Jim come from Gretna today. He staid with Marvin last night. He went to Chatham yesterday. Nellie and I got dinner today. Letia Ward brought the clothes home today. Heard from Alice Thomson tonight. She is very sick. Ben and the children are in the dining room playing games. Mrs Carr is some better of the headache today I think. She wants to go home tomorrow. Hope it may be so that she can go.

A good day. Jim and Ben went to Johnsons this morning. Alice Thomson died last night half after ten oclock. They brought her to her fathers today. Jim went to Gretna with ??? for the casket. Jim come home for his supper. Ben and Jim has gone up there tonight. Ben carried Mrs Carr home this evening. I will miss her so much. She is a fine lady as fars as I have had the company. I am distressed about so much sickness in the countery. I do hope that it will soon get better. Henry went to Lee Brumfields today. He went with Lawson Emerson.

Rain a gain today. Jim hung up the meat today. Ben painted most of the day. I think he done a good job. Nellie cleaned up some. I got dinner except corn bread. I put feathers in some pillow ticks and a bolster. Nellie washed her dress today. Mrs Carr sent Mabel dresses and two shirts by mail today. Nellie bathed her and put some of them on her. Henry went to Mt. Airy and Renan today. There is lots of sickness yet. There was a ??? carried by her today. A Mrs. Waller I do hope that time will get better soon.

Snowed most of the day. The men folks did not work much. Ben varnished his furniture. Nellie done the cooking and sewed on my rugs. Finished them tonight. Dr. Willie B[rumfield?] was here today a little while. Kate Harvey they hope is some better. Irvin and Duepney(?) come this evening and got the cot for to put in Kate's room. I got a letter from Mrs. Carr this evening.
Monday, February 12, 1923
Cloudy all day. Rain tonight. The boys killed two hogs and John Ward one. Mr. Booker helped them. The children went to school.
Hattie Gilbert washed here some of the the clothes ?? so that we could take them in. Most of the are hanging on the line taking the rain. I got a letter from Mrs. Carr saying that Max had got hurt and wanted he to come to him. I guess she is out there now. I heard from some of the sick today. They were getting on very well. Jack Harvey has gone home. He did not come to see us. I want to see Virginia but can't get there.
