Fort Worth, Texas July 27 th, 98.

Hon. Mayor and City Council.

Gentlemen;-

I wish to call your attention to the sewer line running through the alley between Houston and Main streets from Belknap to 5 th, streets, it being only a six inch line leading into an eight inch line at 5 th, street. I would ask your consideration of the necessity of laying an eight inch line a part of the way at least, the present line being too small for the number of connections now on it to say nothing of the new ones continually being made,.

I would suggest that the city engineer Mr. Hawley be requested to give an estimate of the cost of laying an eight inch line in place of the six inch line for such a distance as he may think necessary.

It is very necessary and should be done at once for it is a great annoyance to the occupants along that line, as it is continually stopping up and at times overflowing and flowing under the floors of same of the stores making the city liable for damages.

It is considerable expense to the city unstopping the line sometimes at night, needing several men in opening the line to save the city from damage suits.

Respectfully Submitted.
