render a change evidently necessary; and in that case it shall be the duty of the attending physician to [inform] the consulted physician as soon as possible 4thly that the consulted physician in no sense consider the person, who may be the subject of consultation, as his own [Pt] and under his direction, and therefore do not prescribe for him or her but when the attending physician shall be present. 5thly that in all cases however when sudden and unexpected emergencies shall render immediate [assistance] necessary which the consulting physician shall not be at hand: the foregoing obligation shall be [desspensed] with, yet the consulting physician shall be informed thereof as soon as convenient. 6thly that in all cases where any deformations may arise relative to the method of cure, which cannot otherwise be determined, one or more of the society be called in for a decision. 10thly uniformity of charges ought to be observed by the member of this society: it shall therefore be among the first [resolves] of this society to establish certain fees for particular services, under which it shall be deemed [infamous] to practice: nevertheless if any gentleman of the society, [emmint] in the profession, shall [then] to the established fees are not adequate to his services; it shall be lawful for him so far to exceed the established fees as he may think reasonable. And to prevent any evasion of the intent of this article each number shall particularize in his bills the number of [illegible], the distance, and medicine, provided they be of such [illegible] as shall have a price affixed to them by the society. [Voted]. 11thly if any member shall presume to violate or evade the spirit and intent of the foregoing regulations, on conviction, he shall be [expenced] to the contempt of the whole society and the shall censure him equal to the nature of the offence.

And if the enormity of the crime occasion [expects] he shall be treated with the greatest contempt. shall not be associated or consulted with, except in cases of an extraordinary nature where the dictates of humanity and sympathy for the distressed shall compel us to observe a different mode of conduct. And if the case will admit it is recommended that a third person a member be called in to attend. [Voted]. 12thly no censure shall be [passed] upon any member by by consent of two thirds of the whole society the occasion of censure and proceedings thereon shall be circumstantially recorded. [Voted]. 13th it is not the design of this institution to molest or or disturb any who at present practice within the limits of this society and are not members thereof; they may be consulted with, and shall be treated with compliance; unless by their endeavouring to cast contempt upon the society or its members

or by ungentlemanlike conduct they shall render themselves unworthy of attention. [Vote] 14th if any person shall in future take his abode and enter upon practice within the limits of this society, unless he shall have been approbated by the Massachusetts Medical Society, he shall within six months after his entering upon practice make known his intention and [sobeit] the approbation of this society: which shall not be withheld for sinister [illegible]; but for ingenuous and warrantable reason alone: and said candidates neglecting to apply as above mentioned shall be deemed a sufficient bar to his recieving and protection in his medical character during his neglect. 1. These shall be annually chosen by ballot of the slated meeting in May, a president, secretary, the counsellors and, if need be, a treasurer...

2. The election of the said officers shall be determined by a majority of the written notes, when Jen members are present and vote, and then a [letter?] number, present, I shall require two things of the votes to make a choice.

3. The duty of office of the president shall be to prefice in all meetings of the society and of the council, to maintain order and due objectivance of the rules & order of the [algorithm?] in meeting assembled, to state [motions?] when seconded to & to direct the secretary to call meetings [agreith?] to tho [Rudy?] of the association. - and he shall have an [equivote?] with the members of the council & society [affection?]

4. In the absence of the president, the counsellor [joint?] in age, shall preside - and [?] proven with the president

5. The duty of the counsellors shall be to prepare the [busi ness?] of future meetings, conclude & propose the best methods for advancing & bringing forward the [deligates?] of the association to examine all communication - this shall not be unethical however to preclude any members from laying before the socity any matters or proposing any regulations, or he shall think conducive to its benefit

During the [recess?] of the society, the council may direct the secretary in such medical correspondence as they shall judge necessary for the good of the society.

There shall be two [halted?] meetings of the society annually, [one?] on the first monday of May and the first monday of October preceeding which there shall, if necessary, be a meeting of the council, the time & place to be appointed by the president, and the time of day & place of the future meetings of the society shall be agreed upon [provided?] to the close of each meeting

10. Each member shall attend if convenient at every meeting and whilst the meeting is open, shall object due order and shall not interrupt any members when speaking, nor speak more than [tone?] to any one questions, with no leave obtained

June 9th Wm. Cimot 25 Has got a Palry in consequence of hunting in white Lead. This man has han and affection of the bowels but slightly, not to that degree we should expect, the first symptoms that took place was costiness & griping, which continued 3 Days in this time he was suddenly seized in his Wrists He has been a worker in W. Lead all his life time & has been affected in his bowels three different times but never to such a degree as to effect his hands. This last attack he discovered the gripings more severe and immediately at the abatement of this the Paralitic affection of his Wrists took place One thing very singular in these cases is Rx. Mist. Febrifreg. Rx Haust. rol. caps wt hora somni Rx. Empistas

Symptoms Coachmans Subject to the gout, about 11 days ago in the eveng while fitting on his box he found himself extremely cold all of a sudden which lasted by times for 3 days before that time he had been effected with a Catarrh but not violent & without expectr on the 4th day after his seizure a cough took place [?] wth uneasiness in his right side & pain in his head after the coldness went off y 2 days ago had an attack of the gout & now an inflamn has attackd his Eyes. Now whether is this a [?] fever, or gout, the absence of headache, a good appetite & no [? & being capable of muscular excution in these that tis no fever fit an inflammation.
