My dear Mrs. Van Waters,

I never seem to get a chance to talk with you alone so I'm going to write you a short letter.

I want you to know that I have greatly enjoyed the class and it has been a great pleasure the hours spent with you. Also I want to thank you again for my trip to Concord. I will miss you very much but no one knows how glad I'll be to be with my dear little boys and father, mother, brother and sisters. I never was away from them before so this has been a severe punishment to me. I will try to hard to obey the rules of Indenture so I may stay with my family. I have obeyed

the rules here and feel I can outside.

Hope I can go ^home soon as Christmas is creeping near and I want to be home to plan a little something for my children.

I want to see you the day I go. If I can, I would like to come to your room and see you and bring my baby up so you can see her too. She is so cute. She is my only girl so of course I think she's just right.

Tell Lorraine I think of her often but very seldom see her. She used to sit beside me in the shirt room. I wrote your daughter and asked for her permission to correspond with Elsie after I go home but she hasn't let me know yet. Elsie and I have been like sisters since we met. Whatever we have we share it with each other.

I am very tired tonite so guess I'll go to bed. I think its very cold outside.

Will you write me a note and let me know if I can see you when I go home? I'm younger than you and it will be easier for me to come up to see you than for you to come down to the office I'll be to class [Fri.?] if I'm still here. You can let me know at class if you don't get time before. With love Sarah Emerson

My dear Mrs. Van Waters.

Did you think I had forgotten you entirely? Well I sure haven't. I think of you every day. Hope you are well and all the rest of your family. I miss the Biography Class very much. Are there any of the old class left? I had a letter from Elsie last week and was very happy to learn that she was with her father and sister. Elsie is a very nice girl and I miss her much. We were like sisters during our stay at the institution. I am working three days a week for a neighbor. They come and get me and bring me home. The rest of the time I
