help mother. It seems wonderful to be taking care of my own baby girl. She is just fine and so good. She goes to bed at 6:30 p.m. and sleeps all nite and has a long nap every morning and sometimes after dinner. The boys think she is just grand but she is jealous of Donnie Gene. He is three and sometimes when I am helping him dress in the morning she stands and [teases?] for me to take her and put Donnie down. Donnie is just as jealous if dad holds Beverly. It was cloudy this morning but turned out to be a lovely day so after dinner the children and I took a walk. I like to be out when its nice weather. Beverly sure enjoys the

nice country air. Who are you studying now? I found some paper[s?] I had written on Pasteur when I was in High School. How is Miss Green these days? Hope she is fine and all her babies too. Give her my best regards. I have taken some pictures of the baby and if they come out I'll have to send her one. Miss Cavanah and Miss Arsi were up to see me last month and Miss Arsi thought the baby looked fine. My family is all fine. The boys have grown like weeds. They are enjoying their spare minutes by playing baseball. Guess I haven't any more to say so had better close for this time. I will be very glad to hear from you. I must thank you for all the help I

Dear Mrs. Van Waters,

I'm very sorry not to have answered your letter before but I keep very busy.

We are all well and happy. I have a cold but not so [bad?] I'm able to be on the go.

I'm still working at the same place that I've been since May 1936. I work three days a week. they are nice people to work for.

I hope Dr. Van Waters had a very pleasant vacation. I know how hard she works and she sure needs a good rest once in a while.

Miss Green too needs a rest and hope they had a pleasant trip. She works so hard for the babies. Wish she could see her little Beverly now. Guess she be surprised to see how rugged she is and how well she talks and learns.

I don't know if I told you before that my father helped build the Elm Lee School in Putney where your Sarah goes to school. I see by the papers a while ago of an infantile paralysis scare there. Hope no more has developed.

My mother has been picking apples for a neighbor. She is going to have some of them.

[Oct. 14, 1937]

The autumn foliage is very pretty here at present. It has been very cold her for a few days and nites now. I kinder hate to see the cold weather coming beause its much easier when the children don't have to be bundled up to be warm enough.

Beverly has her snowsuit for this winter that Dr Van Waters gave her when we left there. She wore it all last winter and it is still good and plenty big enough.

We have done much canning this summer. We have to make pickle of tomatoes and ripe cucumbers some day soon when I can find time.
