STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA GUILFORD COUNTY

This Indenture Made this ______________________2nd______________day of __September___________19_42__ by and between____EDITH_H._PERRY__and__husband__HENRY_D._PERRY___EDITH_H._PERRY___ Guardian__of__WILLIAM_S._PERRY___MARGARET_S._PERRY___JOHN_C.C._PERRY___{Minors)___ Hereinafter referred to as party of the first part the term to include all persons or corporations executing this instrument and_____ ___THOS._W._SPRINKLE____TRUSTEE, party of the second part, and the HIGH POINT PERPETUAL BUILDING AND LOAN ASSOCIATION of High Point N. C. a corporation party of the third part.

WITNESSETH: That whereas, the said party of the first part has this day borrowed from said Association the principal sum of _______---FOUR__THOUSAND---___________________Dollars ($4,000.00)_______ and has executed and delivered to said Association his note or bond of even date herewith in the said principal sum and bearing interest from the date hereof until paid at the rate of ____6___ per centum per annum payable as to principal and interest monthly as hereinafter set forth on the 1st day of each month at the office of said Association and whereas the party of the first part has subscribed for and taken out certain shares of Direct Reduction Loan Shares in said Association and has assigned same as security for the said debt and has agreed to pay one installment on said shares of not less than___FIFTY__EIGHT__&__45/100___Dollars ($__58.45__) on or before the 1st day of___October___19__2__ and an installment of like amount on or before the 1st day of each month thereafter____________________until said note and all interest thereon shall have been fully paid, and until any and all moneys advanced by the Association for the benefit of the party of the first part, and interest thereon, shall likewise have been fully paid, it being understood and agreed that said monthly installments shall be applied in the following order: (1) to the payment of interest on said note, (2) to the payment of any sums advanced by the Association under the terms of this deed of trust for the benefit of the party of the first part and not otherwise paid, and interest thereon, (3) to the principal of said note; and whereas, it has been agreed that the payment of said note and such advances shall be secured by said shares and by this deed of trust:

NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the premises and for the purpose aforesaid and for the sum of One Dollar to the party of the first part in hand paid by the party of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said party of the first part has granted, bargained and sold and by these presents does grant, bargain, sell, convey and release unto the said party of the second part, as trustee, his heirs and successors in office, all that certain piece, parcel and tract of land lying in said County and State aforesaid, and bounded as follows, to-wit:

High Point Township Guilford County North Carolina.

Being all of lots Nos. 3, 4 of Forest Park. A Plat of which is duly recorded in the office of the Register of Deeds for Guilford County, in Plat Book 9 at Page 60.

Lots No. 3 is located on the West side of Wiltshire Boulevard and is 60x135 feet; Lot No. 4 is located on the West side of Wiltshire Boulevard and is 97x135 feet.

The above described lots are a part of the land conveyed by Henry D. Perry, to Edith H. Perry, et al by deed dated September 24, 1935 and recorded in Book 716 at Page 297. See also 512-356; 551-154, 414-600, etc.

I Mary O. Blackburn a Notary Public in and for said County and State do hereby cetify that Edith H. Perry wife of Henry D. Perry husband personally appeared before me this day and acknowledge the due execution of the foregoing Deed of Trust and Note and the said Edith H. Perry being by me privately examined separate and apart from her said husband touching her voluntary execution of the does state that she signed the same freely and voluntarily without fear or compulsion of her said husband or any other person that she does still voluntarily assent thereto. Witness my hand and seal this 2 day of September A.D. 1942

$4,000.00 HIGH POINT, N.C., Sept. 2, 1942

FOR VALUE RECEIVED, I (we) promise to pay the HIGH POINT PERPETUAL BUILDING AND LOAN ASSOCIATION, of High Point, North Carolina, or order, the full sum of

FOUR THOUSAND Dollars ($4,000.00),

with interest thereon from date until paid, at the rate of 6 per centum per annum, said interest and installments on principal to be payable monthly as hereinafter provided.

This note is secuired by a deed of trust of even date herewith, and by the assignment of 40 shares of the Direct [Reduction?] Loan Shares owned by the undersigned in said Association in connection with which shares the loan evidenced by this obligation is made. The undersigned agrees to pay to said Association upon said shares

a monthly installment of not less than 58.45 on or before the first day of October 1942, and a like amount on or before the first day of each month thereafter until an amount has been paid sufficient to retire the whole of the indebtedness, together with all interest thereon.

It is expressly understood that the amount paid each month upon the shares as herein provided shall be applied in the following order: (1) to the payment of the interest on this note; (2) to the payment of any sums advanced by said Association under the terms of the deed of trust for the benefit of the undersigned and not otherwise paid, with interest thereon; (3) to the principal of this note.

If the undersigned shall fail to remain a member in good standing of said Association, or fail to pay any installment on said shares in said Association when due, or fail to keep and observe any other provision or requirement of this note, or the deed of trust securing this note, and such default shall continue for thirty days or longer, then, in any such event, the holder of this note may immediately declare the entire unpaid balance of the note and all other indebtedness of the undersigned to the Association on account of this loan immediately due and payable and proceed with the collection of this note and call upon the Trustee in said deed of trust to foreclose the same.

7-6-42 "Ned" had day off at Roosevelt, "Ned" and friend [blank] Parrish (home Durham, N.C.) visited La Guardia [blank] Field. They visited Parrish's brother william who [blank] was a Pilot for American Airlines, william [blank] Parrish gave them the royal tour. Pilots [blank] ratings posted - William Parrish topped the [blank] first ten listed. " " " " took them [blank] to lunch. "Ned" had a wonderful time.

7-27-42 "Ned" completed course in Hydraulics. This [blank] second hardest part of course. Ned scored [blank] 89 - second highest in group. Instrument score 78 [blank] next course in propellers.

7-28-42 Notified in August Roosevelt Field [blank] to be their regular Army Base.

9-9-42 "Ned" has completed school in Carburation [blank] and " " " " electricity

[blank] "Ned" may still apply for Officer [blank] Candidate School

10-4-42 "Ned" received first weekend pass returned [blank] to Roosevelt Field at 2:25AM Tuesday Morning

10-9-42 "Ned" located trouble with engine while [blank] installing Oil lines - the pipe elbow [blank] incorrectly places. "Ned" was given much [blank] praise by local instructor (this was [blank] a Dayton Factory error) "Ned" felt he would [blank] not be given credit for detecting the fault.

10-11-42 "Ned" became friends with a Mr. Knott, [blank] who owned a drug store in Mineola. Mr [blank] Knott suggested Vitamine A for Color [blank] Blindness. Stated over 2 cases tried [blank] were cured.

10-21-42 "Ned" & group left Roosevelt Field, N.Y. [blank] around mid-night. Transferred to Curtiss [blank] wright Service School Barracks #9 [blank] Class 10, Hdgts - Detachment, Willimsville [blank] Branch Route 4, Buffalo, N.Y. [blank] New School - First Class there to [blank] specialize on Curtiss - P-40. [blank] will spend 27 school days in this school [blank] "Ned" received a Diploma from Roosevelt Field

11-22-42 "Ned" left Buffalo 11:00 P.M. for Fighter Sqd. [blank] Logan Field, Baltimore, Md.

11-22-42 "Dad" ("Ned's" father) send him a watermelon [blank] "ned: shared with his 20 classmated. The [blank] men could not belive a father [blank] would send the melon 500 miled to "Ned"

11-30-42 "Ned" transferred to Langley Field, Va

12-5-42 "Ned's" friend, Barney Lewis, assigned [blank] to Wilmington, N.C. Air Base
