August 21 1922 - Monday

Went to all the teachers to ask about the Burbank Bk,
but no satisfaction. Laid books out on table for the
5th S.; one girl couldn't find her book; suppose
these troubles will recur daily. Received a copy of
the Eng. courses from Cushing High, which took to
teachers & asked each to copy the ref. for her class.
The 7th S. Sayana returned it to me at noon, & I took
to the H.S. teachers at one, getting from Miss M. at
3 after Bible Class. Am reading Miss S's book &
hope to finish this wk. There are seven chs. & an
introduction, but gauging by today I think it can
be done by talking fast. Asked Ma E Kui for Sat's
paper so I could cut out the piece about Burma, to
use in my paper which I must get off on the next
mail.

Wrote out all the nice things that I could find about
Ma P.N & Ma T.T. in order to incldue in the reply to
Gov's confidential letter asking whom we could rec-
ommend [recommend] for honors; hope one or better still, both,
will get a gold watch at least. Read all the Inspector's
reports for the last several years while I was at it, thus
killing two birds with one stone. Called at the G's to see
the H's, who leave by boat early in the morn; Mrs. H.
was ill while in R: Dr. H, at our urging, showed us
his K.I.H. gold medal - it is quite a plaque - on a
dull blue ribbon. The H's dined there . Found another
old picture section to cut, & a couple of duplicate mag-
azines [magazines].
