[Left] January 6 Thursday. 1938. I have done the general house worked & sewed a little.

1939. Fri. my cold is better. I cleaned up the house & sewed some & have done the general house work.

1940. Sat. Fern, W.H & a Burden boy spen't the day with us. I have read some & embroidered.

1940 Sunday. Andrew came & we played chinese checkers this morning Rex & I wen't to Mr. Rodgers this afternoon. It snowed again last night.

[Right] January 7 Fri. 1938. We killed hogs today Robert Littlepage, Mr. Gipson, Nealie & Cousin Jeff helped Mrs. Rogers came & helped me get dinner & we cut up lard this afternoon.

1939. Sat. I feel aweful bad today. Rex & I wen't to town today Alma wen't with us. wen't to Jessie's a little while. Had 2 teeth filled. Wen't to see Dr. Davis. He said for me to stay off the damp ground & to lay around as much as I can. Hazel, Peach Mr Rogers & Louis came a while tonight

[Left] January 8 Sat. 1938. I cut up lard this morning & cousin Jeff helped me. Uncle Brock wen't to Mr. Slaton's for the sausage mill. We ground sausage this afternoon. all of us ground some.

1939. Sun. I have done the general house work & been in bed a good deal.

1940. Mon. I washed this morning & made a pillow slip this afternoon.

[Right] January 9 Sun. 1938 Cousin Jeff wen't to Mr. Rogers this morning Rex wen't to Mr. Slaton's this afternoon. Uncle Brock & I stayed at home all day.

1939. Mon. Earl, Dock & Rex wen't to owensbourough today to see about the tobacco sales. I have done the general house work sewed some & read "Doctor Wyatt Speaking" by Sarah-Elizabeth Roger.

1940. Tue. Rex & Jay wen't to town today. I worked on my Rug and got a good deal done on it. I ironed a few pieces.

[Left] January 10 Mon. 1938. Rex wen't to town today & cousin Jeff wen't home. Uncle Brock & I cleaned the hog heads & feet & made souse. I read "Death Goes Downhill an American short mystery Novel in The American Magazine by Arthur Tuckerman.

1939. Tue. I have done the general house work & hemed some tea towels and read "charity patient." I don't feel as well as I have been feeling tonight.

1940. Wed. Finished ironing & worked on my Rug and read some.

[Right] Jauary 11 Tue. 1938 Uncle Brock & I sacked 5 long sack of sausages & I canned 2 1/2 gallons. Read a little tonight.

1939. Wed. Rex got up Early this morning & wen't to owensborough with a load of tobacco. Dock wen't with him. Uncle Brock & I washed.

1940. Thu. Rex wen't to owensborough with a load of tobacco. It brought $32. $21. $8 and $4. I finished embroidering a scarf I aim to give Mother & read a good deal.

[1938 Wed.] Uncle Brock went down to Pleasant View & will stay a few days & take his chickens to town & sell them. I washed a large washing. It is turning colder today. Read some tonight.

[1939 Thu. I have ironed today & have done the general house work.

[1940 Fri.] I read some & sewed some.

[1938 Thur.] I am nearly sick a cold. I ironed & mended the clothes & cleaned up the kitchen. Rex went to town today with a load of tobacco. Rex took 22 hens to town & they brought $22.23.

[1939 Fri.] Rex went to town today. I have been in bed nearly all day.

[1940 Sat.] I have done the general house work & sewed some.

[1938 Friday] I have been sick today & in bed part of the day. I have read a good deal. Rex went to town. Uncle Brock came home.

[1939. Sat.] I cleaned up the Kitchen & mended some clothes & have done the general house work. Louis came tonight.

[1940. Sun.] John & alma came and spent the day with us. Rex went near Richland this afternoon. He went because Mrs. Dortey asked him to go after her daughter & baby.

[1938. Sat.] I have felt bad all day & haven't done anything except the general house work.

[1939. Sun.] Stayed at home all day. Nothing happened unusual.

[1940. Mon.] John & alma & Dock spent the day with us. Dock & John helped Rex stip tobacco. We aimed to kill hogs but decided not to.
