Remedy for Red Colic in Horses. Take four large onions Boil in 2 quarts of water 1 pint of onion juice add 1/2 oz Peppermint essence 1 Tablespoonful of camphor 1 one drachm Turpentine mix and give as a drench also the same as an injection and if not relieved in 20 m renew to dose. & give injection every 15 mintues till well.

Chronic Cough in Horses Remedy Ginger 2 oz Gentine 2 oz sulphur 3 " Mandrake 3 " Bloodroot 4 " Lickorice root 4 oz Lobelie seeds [unclear] 4 oz skunks cabbage root 4 oz Epsom Salts 4 oz Dose tablespoonful once a day in Bran mash or oats also add 2 oz Sulphite soda

Splendid Salve

5 oz Tallow 8 " Linseed Oil 4 " Beeswax 2 " Bergunda Pitch 2 " venis Turpentine 2 " White Rosin 1 " Lavender Oil Mix all together and Simmer over a slow fire for 20 minutes & cool for use. Keep in a tight box or bottle.

Swollen Legs 2 oz Sulphate of Iron 2 " Powdered Gentian 2 " Powered Hyposulphite soda give one teaspoonful 3 times a day in Bran mash

Liniment for Strains Alcohol 1 qt Ceder Oil 1 oz Oreganum Oil 1 " Amber Oil 1 " Hemlock Oil 2 oz Balsam Fir 1 " Ammonia Spirits 2 oz Wormwood Oil 1 oz Put all the Oils in the alcohol & shake well before putting in the other two. with 2 oz tincture myrrh

Liniment for Cramps 1 oz Camphor gum 1 " Oil ceder 1 " ammonia 1 Pt Alcohol 90 per cent rate for the Human family also oil cadjuxent

To Make fosphate

Take 1000 lbs good mold sift to get the gravel out and make it as fine as possible.

Then spread on the flour add 100 lbs sulphate of amonia, 100 lbs common salt and mix with a rake when thoroughly mixed add 25 lbs pearl ash & 22 " sulphate of soda mix well. Then add 400 lbs ground bone 25 " best peruvian guano 150 " land plaster mix thoroughle and let stand in a pile 48 hrs before use.

Recipee for Spavins, Ringbone or curb on leg. Splint on fore leg. Cantharides 3 oz Tincture Iodine 3 oz Spirits Turpentine 4 " Corrosive Sublimate 3 drams & 1/2 lb Hogs lard Then heat over a slow fire in an earthen vessel & when nearly cold add Biniodide of Mercury 2 oz & stir well together. Shave the hair off the bunch and warm the medisin before applying Apply once a day for 3 days heating it with a hot iron after 2 days grease with sweet Oil for one day then wash off with Castilesoap & rub dry before apply ing. Then repeat the same, till you have applied the medisin for nine days. Keep the horse dry while under treatment & for 4 days after
