that the above enumerated items from 1 to 11 inclusive were items charged in his Quarterly account with the Government from 13 of Oct 1849 to 13 of January 1850 that they were items of necessary travelling expense incurred by him as stated in Vouchers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 after his appointment and while travelling to his place of destination in California.
