Count of Sacramento James G. Short being only
sworn on oath says, my name is James G. Short, age
about 25 years, residence at present in [Name?] Valley
County of Amador State of California. My occupation
is [illegible] In the year 1862 in September, and
also in July I was working for government under my
Father on the [Name] [Name] Reservation in the county
of Mendecino state [illegible]. I was present
when James M. Cammack delivered beef I
stock battle to my farther James short [illegible]
on the [Name] reservation for George m. Hanson
[illegible] Northern District and for the
use of the Indians on [Name] Reservation. On
July he delivered one hundred and fifty [illegible]
and in September he delivered one hundred and
twenty seven head. At the time these battle
were delieverd the Indians were and had been
almost without supplies, & dealer refused to
